Every so often, I run into a program that I find to be VERY valuable. Well, a few months ago, I was trying to find out some information on how to run a membership site. I have a huge concept for a membership site in my mind and I’ve shared snippets of it in the past. However, I had no idea how to go about doing this. I found a membership site that actually teaches you how to run a membership site and I wanted to share it with you.
Name: Membership Academy
Creator: David Moskowitz
URL: www.membershipacademy.com
Purpose: Learn how to run a profitable membership site.
When I first saw Membership Academy, I was a bit skeptical for a shallow reason. I wasn’t a big fan of the design. I did some web design for a while and for some reason, I have a hard time using sites when I don’t like their design. However, I looked at some of the videos they had there and was impressed. It seemed as if the content was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
So I bit the bullet and jumped in. First let me tell you what it deals with . . .
Well, it pretty much deals with every aspect of setting up and running a membership site. The membership platform it covers is Amember, which is one of the best membership platforms out there at an affordable price (in my opinion). I will have to do a review of Amember at a later date, but just know for now that you can’t beat it in the price range of under $200.
Membership academy has a wealth of video and text tutorials on everything from Planning your site to building it, promoting it to content creation, integration with Wordpress, PHPBB and Vbulletin to Tracking and testing. Some of the videos are free and some require a premium membership. With the stuff I learned there, I was able to set up my membership site (which I will be launching soon), and integrate it easily with my blog and I’m excited about the new system.
All of the content is organized in what they call the “Membership Dashboard”. You can see a sample of that dashboard below:
There is also a membership forum, although I don’t find it to be too active. But if you post a question, David is pretty good with responding to your questions.
Another benefit to signing up is that there are discounts for a number of membership site-related products.
This is definitely a membership that I plan to keep for a very long time. I find myself every so often needing to find the answer to a question and when I check the site, there’s usually a detailed video that tells me exactly how to do what I was looking for.
Who should get this
Not everyone! If you aren’t interested in running a membership site, then this product is probably of no use to you. However, if you are interested in running a membership site or understanding the details of how to run one, you should check it out.
Who Should NOT get this
The site is quite technical. If you aren’t comfortable with doing basic html and php edits and the like, it will be pretty hard for you to get through the content. I don’t really know php, but if you tell me what to do, I can follow instructions. I have not had a problem with the level of difficulty of Membership Academy.
Pricing
This is a membership site with a recurring monthly payment. The first month’s payment is $79.95 and then it’s $19.95 per month.
So all in all, it’s a pretty nice setup. If a membership site is right up your alley, you should check it out at www.membershipacademy.com.
